Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 22: Demanding permanent rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandit migrants in Kashmir valley, Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) under the presidentship of Shadi Lal Pandita during a meeting held here today urged government to settle the core issues of the community. While addressing the community members Pandita said that KP migrant community is confronted with a lot of problems and sufferings for about last 25 years in exile now but no steps have been taken by the state and Central government for permanent rehabilitation of the community. Pandita urged both state and Central government to ensure permanent rehabilitation of KP community in Kashmir valley by bringing up three satellite townships there and simultaneously according minority status with political reservation to them. Participants appealed Government for granting compensation of losses suffered by the KP community during last 25 years upto the tune of Rs 50 lakh to each migrant family besides announcing 10000 posts for educated Kashmiri Pandit youths out of which 3000 posts be advertized for class IV to absorb them in government job. Pandita also appealed Central government to announce enhancement of cash assistance in favour of relief holders of the community as the present financial assistance viz-a-viz Rs 1650/- per soul per month does not suffice the domestic needs of a migrant. Lambasting state government for its failure to protect the Hindu temples and shrines in the valley, JTC president while referring the recent fire incident in which. Jawala Ji shrine was gutted at Khrew (Kashmir) said that such incidents expose the tall claims of administration that Hindu shrines and properties were being protected in the valley. Pandita alleged that there were few cases of encroachment on Hindu religious properties which should be immediately removed, he added. |
