Bookies work over time ahead of judgment day | Stakes on Mufti, Mehbooba, Jitendra Singh | | K Koushal
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 22: Bookies active in political spheres went unbridled and high stakes continue to gain momentum with the counting day of polls on Tuesday when picture of next state government will emerge. Political analysts have observed that bookies are putting high stakes on PDP patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Chief Minister that too with BJP as alliance partners. According to bookies who preferred anonymity, the BJP is expected to win around 25 of the 87 Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir whereas PDP is expected to win on 32 seats. "Stakes are high with both the PDP and the BJP making claims of going solo,' they said Claiming that the bid for Chief Minister has already been set for Mufti Mohammed Sayeed while the name of his daughter Mehbooba Mufti too is in air. "The stakes for Mufti Mohammed Sayeed are set at 40 paise per Rupee, while the highest bids of a massive Rs 50 are for Dr Jitendra Singh, they informed and added," Mehbooba Mufti is riding on Rs. 1.20 for every rupee while Omar Abdul-lah at Rs 8 per rupee. The bookies forecast that the National Conference's (NC) seat share could drop to five from the current 28 seats which it had in its kitty in last assembly polls in 2008. At the same time, they are predicting a complete wipe out for the Congress - which currently has 17 seats and has ended its alliance with the ruling National Conference. The other prominent names in air for the bookie market are Raman Bhalla of INC, Kavinder Gupta of the BJP in the Gandhi Nagar constituency. If the Bookies are to be believed, Raman Bhalla is deemed to lose election, due to low polling in the assembly constituency. Interestingly, the Election Commission - in an unprecedented move - has banned all exit poll and opinion polls in both the states.
