Only 2 PoK guests arrive, 15 Kashmirs’ cross to other side of LoC | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 22: Only two fresh residents of Pakistan- occupied-Kashmir(PoK) arrived here while 15 Kashmiris, crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives separated in 1947 due to partition. As many as nine returnees also cross side in the Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between India and Pakistan. Official sources disclosed that two PoK residents arrived at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot today. The number of PoK guests decreases during winter when the temperature goes below freezing point in the valley. Three Kashmiri residents, who had crossed over to PoK also returned to their homes after completing stay with their relatives across the border, they said. However, 15 Kashmiris, including four women and five children, crossed over to POK to meet their separated relatives, they said adding six POK guests who had arrived here in the previous buses returned to their homes. They included four women. The bus service, introduced on April 7,2005 has helped thousands of families divided in 1947 to meet each other |
