| Massive search operation in Mendhar woods | | | Early Times Report
MENDHAR, Jan 24: Following inputs about the movement of militants, a massive search operation was launched in certain areas here this morning jointly by police and army.
Soon after the inputs were received about the movement of militants in Kasblari, Kalaban and Batakus, police SOGs of Mendhar and Poonch and 49 RR launched a massive search operation in these areas in the morning, police sources said.
While the searches were continuing when reports last came in, there was no report of any suspect having been taken into custody by the search parties, the sources added.
A high alert has been sounded in Mendhar and other Poonch areas as reports suggested that the Pak-sponsored militants had plans to disrupt the Republic Day celebrations in the district.
Multiple nakas had been laid in all the border areas to foil any infiltration bid by the Pak-based militants, sources said. |
