DAHWA reviews arrangements for annual Shivratri mela

Udhampur, Jan 25 : The arrangements for celebration of annual Maha Shivratri-cum-Rural awareness Mela, being organised by Destitute And Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA) and Mela Committee in collaboration with district administration at Khooneshwar Aap Shambhu temple, Khoon, Majalta, were reviewed here today.
Chairperson DAHWA Mela Committee, S.S.Sumbria, took stock of all necessary arrangements to be put in place for smooth and successful conduct of this religious event and sought full cooperation from other members of the committee and the prominent citizens in this regard. He also entrusted different tasks related to mela to the concerned and hoped that they will perform their job to the optimum.
The objective of the mela was to create massive awareness among the people of far off and hilly areas about the development and welfare programmes of the government envisaging socio-economic emancipation of rural people besides promoting the spot in the tourism world, which occupies 17th place in most revered religious destinations in northern zone.
During the mela, the government departments establish their stalls and also distribute literature on schemes among the people besides speaking about elaborates details of their respective schemes. Besides, the farmers are also provided various agri tools on subsidized rates and free seeds and fertilizers.
Sarpanch and President Mela Committee, Romesh Chander, Sarpanch Chain Singh, Former Sarpanch, Tara Singh, Sat Pal Sharma, Makhan Mistri, Naresh Kumar, Ved Sharma, Rashpal Singh and other prominent citizens attended the meeting.
