JAMMU, Jan 25: PDP has smashed Omar Abdullah's sarcasm on twitter targeting its possible alliance with BJP to put in place a government in J&K and rebuffed NC chief's tweets on contentious issues like dynastic rule, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and dialogue with separatists.
Speaking to Early Times, PDP Spokesperson Nayeem Akhtar was all guns blazing against Omar Abdullah for his anti-PDP comments on Twitter.
Mincing no words in criticizing Omar's 'compromise' jibe for PDP on Twitter, Akhtar while reminding him of a chain of compromises he and NC made while ruling the state, said that it is better that Omar Abdullah keep silent.
"It would be best for Omar to stay quiet and watch the proceedings," Nayeem Akhtar, dismissive of Omar Abdullah's remarks said, adding that compromises involved only when the sole objective is gaining power which has been the special feature of NC politics.
While lashing out at Omar Abdullah, senior PDP leader lamented that NC which was a part of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) compromised on its Autonomy resolution.
"Even with 60 seats in the Assembly they (NC) compromised on the state's interests and pocketed the insult when their own autonomy resolution was thrown into the dustbin by the alliance of which they were a partner," said Akhtar.
Taking a further dig at the credibility of former Chief Minister, Nayeem Akhtar, while questioning Omar Abdullah's double standards on AFSPA revocation, alleged that the issue was deliberated only to distract people's attention after the infamous Haji Yousuf case.
"Even during the last six years as part of UPA, Omar Abdullah only talked of AFSPA revocation after the Haji Yusuf case to divert attention from crime and corruption in Abdullah family," said Akhtar.
Akhtar even accused Omar Abdullah of giving away the J&K Bank to the centre without any reason.
It is pertinent to mention here that Omar Abdullah in a series of tweets on Friday had asked PDP and BJP, which of the two parties will compromise on the revocation of AFSPA from the state.
While BJP strongly advocates continuing with the controversial Act, the PDP, on the other hand, supports its revocation from the state.
Omar also asked if the BJP would compromise on the issue of ending dynastic rule in the state, which was raised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his rallies ahead of the Assembly election.
"Who will compromise on the issue of dynastic rule raised by @narendramodi during campaigning @jkpdp or @BJP4India?" he wrote on the micro-blogging website.
"Who will compromise on the issue of West Pakistan refugees @jkpdp or @BJP4India?" he added.
With elections for four Rajya Sabha seats of Jammu and Kashmir being held on 7 February, Omar asked if the two parties will come together for this election.
"Will be @jkpdp & @BJP4India set ideology & public commitments aside to come together for the Rajya Sabha elections in J&K now?" he asked.
Omar said he was reminded of a great man's quip that "being in government is hard work, being in the opposition much more fun."
"I'm sure I'll have more questions in the days and weeks ahead as we wait for a government to be formed," he said.
