Republic day celebrated across state

Jammu, Jan 27: Governor Jammu and Kashmir, N. Vohra, hoisted the tricolour at the State level function on the occasion of the 66th Republic Day, at Maulana Azad Stadium.
The Governor inspected the parade and took the salute at an impressive march past. The smart contingents participating in the march past were from the Army, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, men and women contingents of the IRP, Jammu and Kashmir Police, State Disaster Response Force, J&K Fire and Emergency Services, J&K Forest Protection Force, Ex-Servicemen, National Cadet Corps, Bharat Scouts and Guides, boys and girls schools students and Bands of Army, BSF, J&K Police, Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police and various schools.
Usha Vohra, First Lady; Mubarak Gul, Speaker, Legislative Assembly; Amrit Malhotra, Chairman, Legislative Council; Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Omar Abdullah, former Chief Ministers; Vice Chairmen of various Boards; Legislators; Acting Chief Justice and Judges of the State High Court, senior Civil, Police and Army officers, political and social activists, prominent citizens, media persons and a large number of the citizenry were present on the occasion.
A colourful cultural pageantry based on national integration and the glorious composite heritage of the State was presented by several thousand students from various local schools on this occasion. Bhartiyam, in which students from various educational institutions participated, received a thunderous applause. Army Weapons and Equipment Display by 26 Inf. Div. and Motorcycle Acrobatic display by men and women Dare-Devils of J&K Police received repeated cheers from the jam-packed audience in the Stadium.
Other attractions of the programme included tableau on "Save Water Save Life, Safe Water Safe Life" by the Executive Director, CCDU, Department of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, J&K; "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" by the Directorate of NRHM, Jammu; "Make India Clean & Open Defecation Free" by the Directorate of Rural Sanitation, Jammu and "Forest Conservation is must to address Climate change, Livelihood issues and Ecotourism activities" by the Forest Department.
The 66th Republic Day celebrated in Kathua with great zeal, fervor and gaiety, at Sports Stadium Kathua.
DDC Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary hoisted the national flag and took salute at the parade. The contingents drawn from Police, CRPF, PTS Kathua, Forest Protection Force, NCC and tiny platoons of the government and private educational institutions besides pipers.
While greeting the public on 66th Republic Day, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said it is the duty of every citizen to obey the fundamental duties enshrined under the constitution of India. He said democracy, religious freedom, gender equality and provision of the economic development and upliftment of deprived classes are the key features of our constitution.
Terming 2014 year as remarkable year for kathua district, DDC said that with the functioning of new administrative units comprising new Sub Divisions, Tehsils, Blocks and Niabats the distance will be Bridged for accessible governance and pace of development will take stride in coming times in these units.
The DDC also presented Trophies, certificates to the best performers, Citation awards were also presented on the occasion. He also gave away medals to the census staff.
Among others, SSP, Kathua, Pawan Parihar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, G Prasanna Ramaswamy, MLA Kathua Rajiv Jastrotia, MLA Basohli Ch. Lal Singh, Assistant Commissioner Anshul Garg, ACR Kathua S.P Rukwal, District Officers, Prominent citizens and large number of people and students were present on the occasion
Republic Day was today celebrated in Doda District with great zeal, enthusiasm, gaiety and fervor. Deputy Commissioner Doda Shyam Vinod Meena was the chief guest on the occasion who unfurled tricolor, inspected parade and took salute of the march past contingents of JKP, CRPF, IRP, FPF, JKHG, NCC and students of government and private educational institutions. Speaking on the eve of 66th Republic Day in Doda, Meena said that Republic Day is very significant in the history of the country as our country has become republic on that day. He recalled the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for strengthening unity and brotherhood in the country.
The 66th Republic Day was celebrated with gaiety, enthusiasm and national spirit at District, sub-divisions, Tehsil and Block levels besides in educational institutions and social organizations in Reasi today.
The main function was held at Mini Sports Stadium Reasi, where Deputy Commissioner, Reasi-Shabir Ahmad Bhatt hoisted the tricolor and took salute at the parade comprising 31 contingents drawn from CRPF, District Police, IRP, Police Training Centre Talwara, NCC and tiny platoons from various Government and Private schools.
While addressing the gathering, Bhat underscored the importance of this historical Day on which our country turned in to a Sovereign Democratic Republic, one of the best systems of governance prevailing in the world, adding that it was on this day in 1950 that the constitution of India came into existence.
A colourful cultural program depicting the rich culture and heritage of state was also presented by various educational institutions on this occasion.
Present on the occasion were MLA Reasi-Ajay Nanda, Senior Superintendent of Police-Vivek Gupta, DIO- Parvinder Kour, senior officials from civil and police administration, army officials, members of Panchayati Raj Institutions, prominent citizens, members of press, other dignitaries and large number of locals.
Like in other parts of the state, 66th Republic Day was also celebrated across Kishtwar District with great enthusiasm.
The main function was held at historic Chowghan ground where Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan unfurled the tricolour. On this occasion newly elected MLA Kishtwar Sunil Kumar Sharma was the guest of honor. The contingent of police, Forest Protection force, JKAP, IRP along with various schools took part in the march past. The school children's also presented a colourful cultural program that enthralled the 5000 audience. Later MLA Kishtwar along with officials of District administration also distributed prizes and gifts among the winners of various categories. MLA Kishtwar also give Rs. 10000 for the refreshment of participating students. Meanwhile Republic day was also celebrated with great enthusiasm in Marwah, Warwan, Dachhan, Padder, Chatroo, Drabshala, Bhunzwah and other parts of the District Kishtwar where large number of people participated. In the evening District Information Center Kishtwar organised a colourful Mushayra at New DC Office Kishtwar in which several renowned local poet presented their poetry and enthralled the gathering.
