Jammu, Jan 28: The GGM Science College today sailed into the pre-quarterfinals of the ongoing inter-college cricket tournament, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, on the campus ground, here. In this second round match, GGM outplayed equally good side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of Arts by a wafer thin margin of just one run. Earlier, in this second round match, GGM won the toss and decided to bat first. They set a target of 152 runs losing nine wickets in allotted 20 overs. Sunil played brilliant innings of 72 runs coming off 34 deliveries including five sixes and equal number of boundaries. Kanav and Pankaj also played well contributing 26 and 20 runs respectively. From PG Arts, Rahul took two wickets. In reply, PG Arts made a good start but fell short of one run to match the opponent total making 150 runs for nine wickets in given 20 overs. Gulzar Singh and Vinay were main contributors to the total with 34 and 33 runs in their respective accounts. Rahul (15) and Nadeem (13) were other main scorers. From GGM, Pankaj took two wickets, followed by Munish, Sunil and Raman, who shared apiece each. Today's match officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Raman Kumar and Raj Kumar as umpires while Manu Khajuria maintained the score. |
