JYF stages protest against acting VC

Jammu, Jan 28: Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) today staged protest against acting Vice Chancellor JU who conducts interviews for blue eyed candidate.
Addressing a gathering here today, JYF President Mohd Akram Ahmed alleged that to adjust a blue eyed candidate, norms were altered by HoD remote sensing department and explored opportunity for his favorite man, since the contractual lecturer was appointed without any criteria.
"Earlier, in the month of June this year 2014, interviews were scheduled for contractual lecturers in various departments of University including Remote Sensing Department, but due to certain objections raised by section of scholars, the authority withheld the interview for Remote Sensing department", he claimed.
He said that acting VC, University of Jammu Prof.R D Sharma has conducted interview for the post of contractual lecturer on December 4. "University had invited applications for the post in dubious manner in the month of June without mentioning qualification in eligibility for the post of lecturer, following the protest against the advertisement, the then VC Prof MPS Ishar withheld the interview," he said, adding that the decision was taken overlooking the remarks of former VC.
It pertinent to mention here that since Prof R D Sharma took over the charge of interim Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, he has made number of decisions overlooking.
"Since no criteria was fixed for post of Lecturer/ Assistant Professor, how appointment of blue eyed candidate was made in the department", the Ahmed asked, adding that to prevent such persons from their vested interests strict actions were required to teach lessons these people .
"For the post of Assistant Professor, an eligibility criteria was set as PG Diploma in Remote Sensing instead of Master Degree in subject", he said. Ahmed further said that a total of 22 posts of Assistant Professors were advertised and the applicants were asked to submit forms before August, 17, 2014. "In the list, two posts of Assistant Professors in Department of Remote Sensing and GIS were also shown but when it comes the eligibility criteria required for filling the application forms, surprisingly, PG diploma in Remote Sensing was sought as eligibility criteria", JYF President said.
