DIC Reasi organizes debate, cultural programme | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Jan 28: A debate competition on the topic "Save the Girl Child, was organized by District Information Center, Reasi here in the premises of Government High School (GHS), Gair Mari. A total of 10 students from the school, participated in the competition. The speakers expressed their views on female foeticide, Beti Bachao awareness campaign, gender-selective abortion of female foetuses, dowry system etc. Assistant Director Handicraft-Manu Hansa was the chief guest on the occasion. DIO-Parvinder Kour, Principal of GHS Gair Mari-Neelam Sambyal, staff members and students of the school and large number of local people were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Manu Hansa said that the girls are the precious pearls of a family, so people should take care of them. He also narrated that the girls are the care takers of the two houses. He urged upon the students to spread awareness among the general masses for uprooting the menace of female foeticide from the society. He also stressed to impart moral education to the students right from the primary stage to develop a society free from social evils. Speaking on the occasion, the Headmistress of the school-Neelam Sambyal appreciated the information department for organizing the debate competition. Later-on, the cultural assistants Mohinder sharma and Rakesh Sharma of District Information Centre, Reasi and local singer-Shivam Sharma presented a colorful Cultural Program me, which was based on the themes of female foeticide and women empowerment. |
