Jammu, Jan 28: Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Agriculture Production Department, J&K chaired a meeting on Evaluation of Projects under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) and its components viz., National Vegetable Initiative for Urban Clusters (NVUIC), National Mission on Saffron (NMS) and National Mission for Protein Supplements (NMPS) implemented during 2013-14 & 2014-15 by the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Sericulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture Planning and Marketing, Fisheries and Command Area Development in both regions of the State. According to press release, the Commissioner-Secretary dwelt at length on the eligibility criteria for taking up RKVY scheme by the State and its aims, objectives, scope and nature of projects. It was highlighted that the assistance envisaged for provision to farmers should reach the rightful claimants in time and as per guidelines of the scheme. He stressed the need for third party impact evaluation of the RKVY Projects to bring in greater transparency in execution and for identification of gaps, loopholes and to suggest measures to plug them for betterment of farming community. In this regard it was decided that the Vice-Chancellors of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri and Islamic University of Science & Technolgy (IUST), Awantipura, Kashmir shall undertake a detailed evaluation of RKVY Projects and the comprehensive reports shall be furnished to the Agriculture Production Department, J & K at the earliest possible. Trag, Vice-Chancellor, Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Awantipura, Kashmir beside others spoke on the occasion. |
