Kishtwar, Jan 28: In a major success on counter insurgency front, Kishtwar police and army today achieved a success in Kishtwar District by busting a HM terror hideout in Pangal forest area of Sarthal some 40 KM from Kishtwar. As per details, acting on a tip off, Kishtwar police and army launched a massive search operation in Kishtwar heights, presently under heavy snow cover and recovered massive cache of arms and ammunition from the natural cave hideout situated at an altitude of nearly 12000 feet having an entrance of the cave 3-4 feet in width with 5-6 feet long tunnel on the left side of the cave and then vertical 10 feet tunnel widening at base which can acomodate 4-5 persons. After conducting the seach of the cave, security forces found war like store which containone AK 56 riffle, AK magazine -7, AK rounds live-515, one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher , 12 bore gun-3, UBGL grenades-27, Chinese grenade12, Two H 36 Hand granades of Pakistan origin, binocular-1, combat pouch-1, blanket-1,Tea cups-4, saucer-2, Dry Ration dal and rice 3 kgs. The recovered arms and ammunition has the capacity to cause large scale damage to lives and property. Police has also register an FIR and has started its investigation. The area is dominated by longest surviving HM militant commander Jahangir Saroori active in the area since last over 24 years. Saroori is also wanted in September 7, 2011Delhi HC blast case resulted into the killings of 16 people and injuries to over 50. |
