Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan 28: Bhartiaya Janata party (BJP) while commencing its membership drive in Kashmir today uses government telecommunication agency Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to woo people towards party.
The party expects 11 lakh members in Jammu and Kashmir by the end of March, 2015.
Talking to Early Times BJP state secretary and in charge membership drive for Jammu and Kashmir state, Munish Sharma said that BJP which emerged as the single and only party in terms of more votes cast by people for a party during recently held Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir is committed to achieve a membership of more than 11 lakh people across the state and for that purpose BJP would also take measures to attract people of Kashmir valley in particular.
"Our target in Kashmir is 3 lakh, already we have got membership of 10,000 people in a jiffy in Kashmir out of the total 65,000 from across the state, we are receiving a heartfelt response of people from central Kashmir which include Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal, we are planning to install camps outside colleges and universities in Kashmir and we are using everything required which include BSNL network, other networks as well to woo people," said BJP state secretary, Munish Sharma Pertinently at a time when BJP could not win a single seat from Kashmir valley during recently held assembly elections and a record 33 out of their total 34 candidates who contested elections lost security deposits due to poor performance, Munish Sharma said that BJP at present is party receiving tremendous response from people in Kashmir valley compared to other parties and keeping in view enthusiasm among people towards BJP, his party has decided to send their representatives at every corner of the valley and connect more and more people with the party and added that he is hopeful that set target of 3 lakh members from Kashmir will be achieved right before March 31, 2015.
BJP members claim to have added around 65,000 new members in the state without any effort and before a proper membership drive was launched in Kashmir as well, however on ground except for few known faces of BJP in Kashmir unlike other political parties like National Conference, People's Democratic Party and congress nobody claims to have achieved BJP membership openly in Kashmir.
Pertinently these days BJP use Government run telecommunication agency BSNL to woo people towards party and according to BSNL subscribers sends unwanted messages on mobile numbers from a number DM-044210 with a message "over 4 lakh people have joined BJP so far in the last one month, come be a part of growing family, join BJP by giving missed call at 18002662020.'
