GDC Bhaderwah reaches semis

Jammu, Jan 29: Government Degree College (GDC) Bhaderwah today become first team to reach the semifinal stages of the ongoing inter-college cricket tournament, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus ground, here.
In the first quarterfinal, GDC Bhaderwah defeated GGM Science College by 11 runs. Batting first, Bhaderwah made 122 runs for nine wickets in given 20 overs. Usman and Deepak were top scorers with 29 and 20 runs respectively while Rahul contributed 14. From Science College, Suball took two wickets. Pankaj, Munish and Raman shared apiece each.
In reply, Science College could not attain the goal despite fine innings from Mohit, who contributed 40-ball 40 runs hitting four boundaries. The GGM exhausted their quota of 20 overs short of 11 runs losing eight wickets.
Rajat and Sunil also played well contributing 15 and 14 runs respectively. Burhan and Babur shared two wickets each from Bhaderwah College.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Government Medical College (GDC) registered a narrow two-run win against Government MAM College to move into the next round of the competition.
Earlier, batting first, GMC set a target of 115 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs play. Shaurya hit a fine half century with 52 runs, followed by Ghulam and Danish, who added 21 and 15 runs respectively. From MAM College, Rohit and Siddhant bagged two wickets each.
Later, MAM could not reach the required total and bowled out for 112 runs to lose the game by two runs. Amandeep and Muzzamul were main scorers with 25 and 10 runs in their respective accounts. Sawan and Nasir were most successful bowlers who shared three wickets each while Rahul bagged two.
