People suffering from Leprosy should be dealt with utmost care: Sat Sharma

Jammu, Jan 30 : Anti Leprosy Day was observed at Kushth Ashram, Bhagwati Nagar where people suffering from Leprosy along with hundreds of people participated.
The programme was celebrated in the Ashram premises by showing cultural presentations by students of various schools and speeches by the dignitaries. BJP MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma (CA) was called upon as the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The programme was started by Deep Prajwalan Ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Sat Sharma (CA) said that on this day Mahatma Gandhi achieved Martyrdom and right from that day it is celebrated every year in order to re-memorize his selfless efforts and care for the people affected by the infectious disease leprosy.
He said anyone can be affected from this disease, so the day is celebrated to make people aware about the scientific reasons of leprosy as well as its medical cures. He also said such awareness type of programmes should be conducted so that people could be made aware of the disease.
He stressed on promoting "Swach Bharat Abhiyaan" in form of doing cleanliness drives around the surroundings so that a clean atmosphere could be built around us which can help in eradicating such dangerous diseases also. He stated that in our State also there are number of people suffering from this disease and being a representative of public, every possible help will be provided to them once the formation of a new government takes place in the State.
He also urged the government and social organizations as well to promote about the eradication of Leprosy and stated that people suffering from such disease should be dealt with utmost care and should not be ignored as the disease is not spread by coming into contact with the affected. Superintendent RGMH Dr Anjum Shahin Mirza, BJP Treasurer Pramod Kapahi, Dr Kuldeep, BJP Mandal President Ayodhya Gupta, Shilpi Verma, Dr. Sambyal, Rajnath Bhat, Karim Khan, Mohd. Lateef also spoke on the occasion.
