Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 30: The possibility of the PDP and the BJP forming the next government in Jammu & Kashmir on the basis of a “common minimum programme” (CMP) has upset not only the rejected NC, the Congress and the so-called Third Front, besides almost all in the separatist camp and their supporters in the Valley, but also rattled anti-Jammu, pro-Pakistan and pro-China elements outside Jammu & Kashmir. The NC, the Congress and the Third Front had all offered support to the PDP in their desperate bid to keep Jammu out of the government and their objective was to further consolidate the Kashmiri stranglehold over the state polity and economy.
Significantly, the PDP refused to walk into their trap, and instead, repeatedly indicated its desire to work with the BJP, which is at the helm of affairs at the centre. Developments which unfolded during the last six days clearly suggested that the PDP and the BJP had covered much of the distance and that they could form coalition government in the state anytime. The major development was the decision of the PDP and the BJP to contest the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in the state jointly and it was this decision, plus the possibility of the two parties joining hands to form the next government to end the Governor’s rule in the state, which rattled all the anti-Jammu and pro-Pakistan forces in the Valley and outside. It is not a secret that the NC, the Congress, the Third Front and many in Kashmir have unleashed a vilification campaign against the PDP and their objective is to put pressure on the PDP so that it doesn’t join hands with the BJP.
Not to lag behind, a known India-baiter and champion of the Pakistani and Chinese cause perverted AG Noorani also came out with nasty formulations to achieve the same objective. He dismissed the PDP as “dubious” and said that the alliance between the PDP and the BJP and the resultant formation of the PDP-BJP coalition government would help the RSS and its political organ, the BJP, establish Hindu Raj in Kashmir Valley. “The results of the elections to the Legislative Assembly of J & K, declared on 23 December 2014, opened for the BJP new vistas for the capture of power in complicity with dubious elements (in this case the PDP leadership) in Kashmir. It does not pursue in Punjab a campaign to saffronize it. That objective is reserved for Kashmir. The BJP’s moves are less disturbing than the intrigues and deception of its Kashmir accomplices. If these two partners succeed, the treachery of 8 (read 9) August 1953, which led to the ouster from office of Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, and his imprisonment for 11 years, will be repeated in 2015 in a form with far graver long term consequences. The 1953 crime paved the way for the destruction of Kashmir’s autonomy. The crime of 2015 will pave the way for the saffronization of the Kashmir Valley. The BJP as a coalition partner with the PDP will acquire a foothold and a respectability which the Valley’s electorate flatly denied to it by a unanimous verdict of rejection,” said the perverted Noorani in his highly dubious essay “Enter BJP: Mark the Saffron!”
Noorani not only sought to frighten the gullible Kashmiri Muslims by saying what he said, but also made a last-ditch effort aimed at persuading the PDP not to have any kind of truck with the BJP. There are reasons to believe that the PDP would reject out-of-hand and with contempt the nasty formulations of Noorani, the Pakistani agent, and that both the PDP and the BJP would formulate CMP based on sovereignty, good governance and development and regional balance.
