Early Times Report

Sunderbani, Jan 31: Sensing trouble, the Block Development officer sunderbani, in an effort to save his skin and not getting into the trouble over an issue where he along with his accomplices had duped a NREGA worker of his money, today tried to bribe the aggrieved. It is pertinent to mention here that Early Times have been exclusively carrying news against the BDO Sunderbani Kamaljit who had been found guilty of stripping the gullible NREGA workers of his tehsil of their hard earned money in connivance with some local gram sevaks who act as his oons.
In the latest revelation, Kamaljit today offered Munshi Ram a bribe of 40 bags of cenment or its money worth against a complaint listed against him by the aggrieved in the vilgilance department. As per the reports, Kamal Jit offered a sum of Rs 35,000 0r its equivalent worth of cement bags to Munshi Ram through two gram sevaks viz Naseeb and Thoru Ram who approached him with the bribe.
Munshi Ram however refused to accept the bribe and took his hardened stance to et the verification done by the Vigilance Department against Kamaljit and his goons.
Meanwhile, when the matter was brought to the notice of the Additional District Development Commissioner Veerji Hangloo , he assured that appropriate action would be initiated in the case and the BDO , if found guilty would be booked under the law.
In the village Barnada falling under panchayat Nala Makol, Sunderbani one Munshi ram was allotted Rs one lakh worth of development works for the village that was siphoned off by the Gram Sevak in connivance with the Block Development officer of the Panchayat.
As per Munshi Ram, he was allotted development works in his village at Mala Nakol worth Rs one lakh under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and after completing the works, he was not paid the full amount by the concerned authorities.
After repeated claims , Munshi Ram was handed over a sum of Rs 64,700 while the remaining Rs 35,300 were siphoned off by the gram sevak Naseeb in connivance with the BDO kamaljit Singh, alleged Munshi ram.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Hatish Gupta had confirmed that he had received the application from Munshi Ram in the month of October 2014 and had immediately directed the BDO Kamal Jit for a follow up to take the immediate action. The BDO Kamal Jit when contacted to make his position clear in the directive received by SDM, he showed ignorance and nonchalance.
" I have not received any written application from any quarter . My method of work is different from the routine one and would go for the investigation only if I receive anything in writing," he had said.
Hapless, Munshi Ram thereafter had approached the state vigilance department to get the nexus unearthed.
