Army Porters demonstrates, demand early regularization | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Jan 31: A large number of army porters staged a protest demonstration under the banner of Porters Association outside Office of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur and highlighted their long pending demand including regularization in govt/private department as assured by the then authorities after the victory in Kargil conflict during 1999-2002 . Before staging the protest outside office of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, the porters took a protest rally which started from Indra Chowk Udhampur and after passing through Ramnagar Chowk, Court Road, Dhar Road, it culminated at Office complex of DC Udhampur While speaking on the occasion social activist Ajaz Sumberiya claimed that the demand of porter association for permanent engagement is just and genuine. Keeping in view their service for the sake of motherland in the time of need alongwith the army troops in the most difficult terrain in Kargil, he emphasized upon their regularization as they (porters) have played a vital role in the victory of Indian army during Kargil conflict. "They (Porters) deserve permanent engagement in lieu of their rendered service in time of need ,they are still waiting for justice for the last 15-16 years, he said and appealed the centre to deliver justice to the hundreds of the porters. Protestors namely Ramesh Kumar, Rajinder Kumar, Kaka Ram, Raghuvir Singh, Raj Kumar, Goutam Kumar, Mohinder Kumar and others were also present. |
