BGSBU organizes one day ‘students conference’

Rajouri, Feb 1: To make the Mathematics popular among the student fraternity, the Department of Mathematical Sciences (DoMSc), Baba Ghulam Shah Badsha University (BGSBU) organizes one day ‘students conference’ today in the university campus which was attended by more than 250 students from various institutions from across Jammu Province.
Prof IA Hamal , Vice Chancellor (VC) under whose guidance the conference was organized, was the chief guest on this occasion and the students presented talks and presentations under the supervision of Dr Zaheer Abbas, HoD of DoMSc.
“ Mathematics plays a vital role in making the life comfortable through usage of technology and being very important subject, the need of hour is to learn mathematics and also popularize it and BGSBU is playing the role for its popularizing for the last 10 years” said Prof Hamal, VC. He advised the students and staff of the department to organize such type of activities regularly for the benefit of students and society and also assured his full cooperation in the future also. Prof A.K Koul, Dean Academic Affairs also highlighted the need and importance of mathematics and stressed upon the students to opt this subject.
Eminent personalities Prof. Asghar, Prof Shakeel Ahmed Raina ,principal GDC Budhal appreciated the role of Dr. Zaheer Abbas and his team including Dr. Javed Iqbal, Dr. Pawan, Tanveer, Naveen Sharma and Mohd Arif, for their tireless efforts to make the event successful.
Asif Ajaz Lone(Assistant Professor) and Bilal Rashid , Assistant Director Planning Health Department were the jury members in the conference. The students who took part in the one day conference belong to PG Department of Mathematical Sciences, BGSBU, Department of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Government PG Degree College Rajouri, College of Engineering & Technology (COET )BGSBU, students from government Degree Colleges situated at Reasi, Mehdhar,Poonch, Thanamandi, Budhal and Himalayan Degree College (HDC)Rajouri besides various Schools of the District. Allia Iqbal of HDC clinched first position in graduation level while Ghulam Mohd Tantray of COET, BGSBU and Sobia Firdous of GDC Mendhar clinched 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
In Post Graduation category Shayesta Farooq Lone of Deptt. of Mathematical Sciences BGSBU clinched 1st position while Nisha Arora of Department of Maths, SMVDU and Ch. Qasim bagged 2nd and 3rd positions. In the Conference under School category, Umahviya Qureshi of Panorama Public School, Rajouri clinched 1st Position while Zohaib-ul-Hassan of HEM Schooland Sajjad Hussain of International School Rajouri got 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.
In written competition (under PG category) Zahid Bashir, Abhishek Sharma and Mohd Qasim of Dept. of Mathematical Sciences BGSBU Rajouri got 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively whereas 4th position was shared by two candidates Roohie Mushtaq of BSGBU and Rahul Basotra of Shri Mata Vaishnoo University, Katra.
Under graduate category Zahid Hussain of GDC Poonch stood at 1st Poistion while Iqra Latief of COET, BGSBU and Khushal Gupta of HDC clinched 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
In School Category Bushra Fatima and Saniya Ayoub from HEM higher secondary school Rajouri got 1st and 2nd position respectively while 3rd position was shared by Amim Altaf of Dehli Public School, Sajan Raina of International HSS Rajouri and Sandeep Kour of HEM School.
Formal vote of thanks were delivered by Dr. Javid Iqbal Assistant Professor Dept. of Mathematical Sciences BGSBU.
