14 of Barat party injured as overloaded mini bus turns turtle

Rajouri, Feb 1: Fourteen members of a Barat party were injured while one critically injured was referred to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital at Jammu when the Matador in which they were traveling, met with an accident near village Bathooni on Jammu-Poonch highway on Sunday evening.
Inhabitants of Bathooni and personnel from GREF unit situated at Bathooni rushed to rescue the injured and also informed the police.
Sources said that 14 injured were admitted in the district hospital out of which one identified as 65 years old Nek Alam s/o Mohd Hussain resident of Dassal (Rajouri) who received serious abdominal injuries was shifted to Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) at Jammu for specialized treatment.
"Most of the injured have dislocations and fractures and the doctors attending the injured said that all the injured are out of danger. Those who are critically injured are being treated on priority" said Dr Rakesh Sharma, Deputy Superintendent, district hospital.
Police sources said that the injured were the members of a barat party that was on way back to Nowshera town after the marriage ceremony was over. When the matador bearing registration No JK02H-9517 was about to take turn to cross culvert, driver lost control over the overloaded vehicle and it turned turtle.
Sources said that four critically injured were first taken to Military hospital situated about 2 kilometers ahead of district hospital and after first aid shifted to district hospital along with other injured.
Police have registered a case under sections 279/337RPC against the driver identified as Mohd Rafiq who was also injured and admitted in the hospital.
Others who were admitted in the district hospital have been identified as Manzoor Hussain , Mohd Irshad, Rajesh Kumar, Javed Iqbal, Shahid Iqbal, Mushtaq Ahmed, Mohd Razak, Mohd Yonus, Nek Alam ,Mukhtiar Hussain, Mehmood Ahmed, Mohd Zaffar and Iftikar Ahmed.
