Srinagar, Feb 26: With PDP-BJP coalition government scheduled to take oath onMarch 1, the social networking sites and streets of Jammu and Srinagar are abuzz with hopes and expectations from the new dispensation.
People are talking challenges before the new government including unprecedented floods of September last year. With scores of flood victims pinning hopes that the new government would take all the measures to mitigate the sufferings of the ravaged people, there are many who want the new dispensation to channelize the relief activities so that same could reach to the deserving lot.
Meanwhile on social networking sites including Facebook and twitter, people, mostly youth are seen discussing the latest developments vis-a-vis the formation of the new government and the bigger challenges it would face in near future.
Youth on the social media are seen uploading the latest content and news details wherein issues related to the new dispensation are mentioned.
There are scores of youth who want the new government in Jammu and Kashmir to end the corruption at an earliest along with the serious measures to tackle the problems of unemployment. "For the last six years, we have been witnessing exploitation all around. The previous regime took no measure to end unemployment from the state- rather they multiplied it with nepotism dominating the scenes all across the state. It only ruined the future of youth," said Sameer Ahmad, a university student.
Scores of flood victims from various parts of Kashmir valley have expressed hope that the new government would take immediate measures to provide relief and compensation to the victims of September floods and would try to mitigate their sufferings on priority. "We hope that justice will be given to us by the new government. We want to rebuild our lives and it would be only possible if the new government would provide us some relief that it has promised earlier," says one of the flood victims whose house was damaged during the floods.
Scores of others pitched for the need of the transparent mechanism in relief distribution so that same would reach to the deserving and not the other way round.
BJP and PDP, which have been in negotiations for nearly two months now, have ironed out all the differences over contentious issues including Article 370, Armed Forces Special Powers Act, resettlement of West Pakistan Refugees and holding talks with Pakistan and separatist leaders of the state.
The document prepared by the two sides mainly focuses on development and providing job opportunities to youths.
