MoHFW deputes experts to assess H1N1 Influenza situation in J&K

JAMMU, Feb 26: A team of experts comprising Dr. N.S. Dharamshakti, Addl. DG Emergency Medical Relief Division, Directorate General of Health Services, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Dr. S.K. Jain, Joint Director, National Centre for Disease Control has been deputed to the State by the Central Government to assess the H1N1 Influenza situation and provide technical support and guidance for instituting public health measures here.Following the Governor's intervention SKIMS will also get from NCDC 500 testing kits comprising reagents and chemicals for its Influenza Lab.
The Governor, N.N. Vohra had earlier this week apprised the Union Health Minister about immediate requirements for dealing with H1N1 Influenza in the State. Consequently, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has already rushed additional supplies of VTM, PPE, N95 Masks and medicines which have since been received by both the Regional Directorates of Health Services in the State.
The review held today disclosed that a total of 9092 patients have so far been seen in OPD in the two medical Colleges and various hospitals of the State. 1533 patients were seen in OPD today including 1242 in Kashmir and 291 in Jammu. Out of the total 132 samples taken for H1N1, in Jammu Division 09 cases have been tested positive, 20 have turned out to be negative and report is awaited in 103 cases and 25 patients have been admitted till date. In SKIMS 195 patients were seen in OPD and 09 samples were taken for tests; 09 cases have tested positive for H1N1 Influenza and 02 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. 11 patients remain admitted in the Isolation Ward. 50 frontline health workers were vaccinated today at SKIMS in addition to 100 workers already vaccinated.
