BJP-PDP announcing alliance sends NC into tizzy
Party leaders fear new dispensation would probe irregularities committed during past 6-years

Srinagar, Feb 26: Since the day Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have announced their decision to enter into an alliance to form the next dispensation in the state National Conference led by Omar Abdullah seems to have gone in hibernation. None of the NC leaders have reacted to the development.
Sources told Early Times PDP-BJP giving final touches to the Common Minimum Programme and indicating that new government would be at place soon has "perturbed" the NC leaders as all their efforts to have some say in the government have proved futile. PDP turning down NC's unconditional support offer and BJP not showing any inclination towards NC shattered the "big dreams" of the party leaders who left no stone unturned to somehow either be the part of the government or prevent the government formation.
"Most NC leaders were hoping that both the parties won't break the ice and were preparing themselves for a re-election," said an insider. He said that some NC leaders had even asked their workers to get ready for the re-polls.
Sources said soon after PDP and BJP chiefs Mehbooba Mufti and Amit Shah announced that all the modalities have been finalized, the NC leadership went into a tizzy as most of them were hoping that both the parties won't be able to strike a deal.
Just a few days before PDP and BJP officially announced that both the parties have agreed to form the next dispensation in JK, the NC working president and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to the twitter and made a last ditch effort to provoke the PDP leadership by claiming that he is aware of the PDP-BJP deal. However, neither PDP nor BJP reacted to Omar Abdullah's assertion.
Sources said that NC leaders are now waiting for both the parties to release the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) and then react. "Some of the NC leaders feel that reacting or not reacting now would hardly make a difference as there is no point in crying over spilt milk," they added.
Another worry which has gripped the NC camp is, would the new government just ignore the discrepancies which were witnessed during their rule or would the irregularities be probed? "Many NC leaders are counting on their friends in Jammu, Kashmir and Delhi and are hoping that they would come for their rescue," said a source.
They said the opinion within the NC camp over how to react over the next government formation in the state is divided. "Some NC leaders believe that it's better to maintain silence over the issue and wish the next government all the best while as some believe that NC should take a pro-separatist stand to make life difficult for the next dispensation in the state," sources added.
They said that senior NC leaders believe that BJP and PDP together have enough numbers to run a stable government for six years and NC in the opposition would have to look for the ways and means to keep its flock together rather than raising hue and cry.
