| SC Directs JK Govt to decide about student's mass promotion in 3 weeks | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Feb 28 :The Supreme Court on Friday while hearing the writ petition titled as Vasundhra Pathak Masoodi V/S Union of India directed Jammu & Kashmir Government to take the decision on mass promotion of the students within three weeks.
The petitioner -in-person pleaded that the students are the worst victims of the colossal floods that inflicted the state of Jammu and Kashmir in September last year and the decision to continue with holding of examination would result in their further victimization. She further pleaded that the students lost their books, notebooks and related paraphernalia and have been reeling under tremendous psychological pressure. She also pointed that despite the direction of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir to decide the matter of mass promotion favourably, the state has so far failed to take a favourable decision in this regard. The council for the state submitted that popular government in state would soon be in place and appropriate decision would be taken soon.
Upon hearing the submission of both the sides, Supreme Court directed the state government to take the decision on mass promotion within three weeks. |
