Ashok Sharma demands compensation for flood victims | | | Jammu, Mar 1: Expressing concern over the discrimination in flood relief compensation, non-supply of ration and long pending payments and sanction of pension to widows, senior citizens and handicapped persons in Kalakote Assembly Segment, Ashok Kumar Sharma former legislator and senior congress leader urged upon the State Governor N.N. Vohra for his personal intervention to redress the grievances of the public. A protest dharna at Kalakote Tehsil head quarter held yesterday. As many as 29 complaints were received during the dharna with regard to the sufferings of the people which were submitted to the SDM Kalakote after the dharna for their further transmission to the Governor J&K State N.N. Vohra for consideration. The dharna was concluded by giving 15 days notice to the administration to provide adequate compensation to those farmers who suffered loss of complete damaged and partial damaged of their houses, cattle and crop, supply of BPL and APL ration on latest strength besides free ration of 50 kg per family for six months announced by the government, release of pension to those getting and sanction for such widows, physically challenged persons and senior citizens, after clearing their pending files. |
