Jammu, March 1: After assuming the charge of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister second time, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed put forth an elaborated view point on the Common Minimum Program (CMP) reached out between the two parties before entering into alliance with BJP, added that the "politics is the art of possibility, even when there are contradictions".
While addressing the series of issues and responding to media quarries, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that 2002 elections were wonderful when PDP got together with Congress during NDA government and made sure that there was a peaceful atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that it was on the request of PDP, the government of India led by great visionary Atal Bihari Vajpayee initiated a dialogue with people of Jammu and Kashmir including Huriyat and also with Pakistan. He said that in 2008 PDP had 21 members and today the party had 28 members while the BJP had 25 and the mandate was in favour of both the parties one in Kashmir and another in Jammu and said that joining both parties together is like joining the North Pole and the South Pole which he with the help of Haseeb Drabu and Ram Madav successfully managed to do for the sake of the development and welfare of the people of the Jammu and Kashmir.
"I don't want to dig the past or criticize any party; I only want to look at the future as to make Jammu and Kashmir a model of development like Gujarat, we need to bring peace to this state; We have got the mandate to get people together, We want to make this alliance a turning point in trying to meet the hearts and minds of the people" said Mufti. He said that his party's aim was to do justice to all people.
"We have a historic opportunity today; we want a new chapter for Jammu and Kashmir--- our state is the only Muslim majority state in the country and this government formation will give the message to entire country" said Mufti Sayeed and added that he cannot say how much his party will be able to do.
"What I can tell you is that we will walk shoulder-to-shoulder with each other--- I say let's take Hurriyat and separatists on board too, they also have a view point-- Kashmir has been a problem for every PM since 1947-- I told PM Modi during my first contact that we should be friends with Pakistan" said Mufti Sayeed.
"Unemployment is the main challenge in the state--- We want to create employers but we cannot guarantee employment" said Mufti Sayeed He said that connectivity and tourism is also on the top agenda of the government and laid stress for more 5 star hotels in the state and to promote Jammu and Kashmir as an independent tourist destination.
While referring to successful 2014 elections, Mufti said that Hurriyat allowed making atmosphere conducive for 2014 assembly polls. He said that party has not back tracked from its promises on AFSPA and said that peace is the important aspect of his government. He also attributed the upcoming visit of India's Foreign Secretary Jai Shiv Shankaran visit to Pakistan as its first success. He said that Pakistan is an important ally among the SAARC countries and cannot be ignored. He hailed the role of former BJP Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for showing great heart and patience in terms of holding of talks with Pakistan despite Kargil conflict and attack on Parliament. He said as a part of confidence building measure, the army has been asked to vacate the land occupied by them.
He said that his party's priority is to weed out corruption from the state of Jammu and Kashmir and said that all the aspirations of the people will be taken into consideration by his government. Minister Haseeb Drabu also accompanied Mufti Sayeed and Dr. Nirmal Singh. However Dr. Nirmal Singh left the Press Conference mid away after taking permission from the Chief Minister so that he could attend the party working committee meet.
