JAMMU, Mar 2 : Two Day long National Seminar on "Innovative Trends in Plant and Microbial Sciences" organized by the Department of Botany, University of Jammu, begin here today in which nearly 150 Delegates including a galaxy of eminent Professors, scientists and researchers from different institutions of India are participating. The inaugural ceremony of the mega academic event was held in the serene and ambient environment of the Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. The inaugural ceremony begins with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by invocation in the form of Saraswati Vandana. Dr. G N Qazi, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi was the Chief Guest while Professor R.D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu presided over the function while Prof. Kuldeep K. Sharma, Dean Life Sciences, was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Presenting his presidential remarks, Vice Chancellor, Prof R D Sharma expressed his gratitude and views regarding the regular conduct of such seminars by the Department of Botany. He said "the hard work put in by the teachers and research scholars of the Department is reflected in the form of high quality research publications". While delivering the plenary lecture, the Chief Guest of today's function, Dr. G. N. Qazi, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi thanked the organizers for having invited him for this scientific event. In his key note lecture in the form of an excellent power point presentation, Dr. Qazi talked at length about the synergistic approach adopted by the research scientists from various fields of Sciences including Microbiology, Biotechnology, Agricultural Sciences and plant- microbe interactions that has yielded overwhelming results for ensuring human health. Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Namrata Sharma, the Co-organizing Secretary while the proceedings of the seminar were beautifully conducted by Dr. Veenu Koul. |
