| JKCA scam, Haji Yousuf murder: Will Mufti constitute SIT to investigate NC's misdeeds? | | |

JAMMU, Mar 2: As Mufti Mohammad Sayeed took over as new Chief Minister of corruption ridden state of Jammu & Kashmir on Sunday , People of the state are expecting an announcement from the CM about constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) which would probe into all the corruption cases of Omar Abdullah led Government which includes infamous JKCA scam and corruption scandal involving selection of MLC's which led to murder of Haji Mohammad Yousuf allegedly in the house of Omar Abdullah few years back.
Last summer Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had accused the Peoples Democratic Party of giving tickets to corrupt people, the PDP president Mehbooba Muft had hit back at Omar Abdullah by saying that National Conference is "fountainhead of corruption in J&K."
Mehbooba while addressing a party meeting at Pahalgam constituency in south Kashmir in July last year had said that it would need an honest investigation into allegations (of corruption) against the NC's top leadership to bring them to justice.
Referring to Omar's remarks, Mehbooba had said it was amusing that the Chief Minister asked people to use the RTI Act to expose corrupt practices by some entrants into the PDP.
"The Chief Minister is in control of the entire investigation set-up and he should be the last person to advise use of RTI because he can have the exposure and prosecution of any guilty person conducted whenever he likes," Mehbooba has said.
The NC lead government has a lot to answer on corruption issues and it was this Government which deactivated State Information Commission (SIC) and State Accountability Commission (SAC).
Mehbooba Mufti during her speech added that most of the skeletons would have tumbled and some leading lights of the government could have met the fate of A Raja and Suresh Kalmadi. She said the cricket scam (allegedly) involving Dr Farooq Abdullah "is an open and shut case and going by the documents in public domain the main characters should have been in jail as it would not need even a lengthy investigation."
"As PDP has now come to power with full support of BJP , it is hoped that they would not hesitate to initiate the investigation against all the corrupt politicians especially those belonging to National Conference" said Manohar Lal a resident of Jammu .
Pertinent to mention that JKCA Scam case is reportedly awaiting prosecution and it is blocked only because Dr Abdullah's son Omar Abdullah was the the Chief Minister. Irony is that Farooq Abdullah in the meantime, he got himself re-elected as the president of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association in questionable circumstances. |
