Srinagar, Mar 4: As the greater challenge for the new government in Jammu and Kashmir this time indeed is ending of the unemployment menace with all eyes set at how the PDP-BJP government would fill the 80 thousand posts which are lying vacant since last six years in the state.
The unemployment that has emerged as one of the major challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, the previous coalition didn't only multiplied the agonies of the jobless youth but also took little measures in filling up of the vacant posts that have till date swelled upto whooping 80 thousand.
Data available with the Early Times inform that there are more than 37000 non-gazetted posts which are lying vacant in various departments in direct category with 5778 gazetted posts for direct recruitment remaining unfulfilled.
Besides the gazetted and non- gazetted posts, the state government in its report released earlier had stated that 13000 posts of class-IV employees are vacant in various departments.
In a promotional quota, the government earlier has stated that there are 16000 vacancies in non-gazetted cadre and 1379 in gazetted cadre apart from 1379 class fourth posts.
The details informed further that so far a major chunk of contractual teachers are ruling roost in the educational institutions of Jammu and Kashmir. The higher education and school education departments have 2109 and 1515 vacancies in gazetted cadre respectively and school education in non gazetted cadre have 12372 vacant posts.
In the department of Home there are 6678 posts lying vacant while as in Finance department more than 2042 posts are yet to be filled .In state's forest department there are 1848 number of posts vacant.
Education department of J&K has highest number of posts lying vacant with the figures suggesting 22894 vacancies followed by Home department that has 9019 posts.
Anguished over the dismal measures taken by the previous government in tackling the crises of unemployment, people across Jammu and Kashmir are optimistic over the possible steps that the new government would take in giving livelihood to lakhs of jobless youth.
Earlier, the farce claims of the government only agonized the already perturbed youth further. Earlier in January last year, addressing a public rally in Srinagarthen chief minister Omar Abdullah announced Fast-Track Recruitment for 80,000 Jobs through Service Section agencies Like JKSSB and JKPSC.
"As many as 80,000 educated youth will be provided government jobs by fast track recruitment through service selection agencies within next some months," Omar had said while addressing a rally of panches and sarpanches at Srinagar.
He added that the Recruitment Process for filling the vacant posts has already been started by the Recruitment agencies."We have already set in motion a mechanism to fill up vacancies in government departments as fast as possible," claimed Omar.
But as the time passed and the polls for parliament were over, there was not even a single assurance given by Omar's government to state's young guns. The casual approach adopted by the state dispensation in filling up of the posts dismayed people across the J&K.
Now when the new government amid much speculation has assumed its office, it is hoped by the state youth that adequate and immediate measures shall be taken to put halt over the growing unemployment crises.
