Avinash Azad Early Times Report jammu, Mar 4: It seems that Jammu and Kashmir Information Department is caught in a catch 22 situation to reply an RTI application as, in violation of RTI Act, department sought Rs. 5000, after 35 days of filing of RTI application. Moreover, the volumes of callousness could be gauged from the fact that after one and half month of depositing of Rs. 5000, which is otherwise illegal, the department has not furnished the 2500 page information, signaling towards something fishy in entire episode. According to information seeker, he sought detail of advertisement issued by the information department, but after lapse of stipulated time fixed by the State Information Commission to furnish the information, the information has not be provided to the seeker. The information seeker said that he had deposited amount of Rs 5000 through band draft, as asked by the deputy director information (PR), but information has not been provided so far. "Through postal communication, the deputy director information (PR), number INF/PR/J-1095-96/2004 dated December 26, 2014 I was asked to deposit the amount", he said, adding that as per rules the department has to provide information free of cost, as one month has gone. "According to communication number INF/PR/J-1095-96/2004 dated December 26, 2014, the deputy director mentioned that the department received the RTI application on November 21, 2014", he said. He further said in January he deposited a bank draft to concerned office in the directorate of information, but after lapse of 42 days the information is still awaited. "On January 21, 2015, a bank draft 091297 of J&K Bank, Branch Gandhi Nagar, I personally along with letter number INF/PR/J-1095-96/2004 dated December 26, 2014 submitted in office of deputy director information (PR). But it seems that department deliberately delaying fulfill the queries I raised through RTI", he added. |
