Early Times Report
jammu, Mar 4: Swollen with pride after defeating Harsh Dev Singh of National Panthers Party by a margin of 17,420 votes and getting 45891 votes against 28471 votes bagged by JKNPP Chairman-Harsh Dev Singh, R.S. Pathania, the new entrant into the BJP fold, who deserted Congress after being sacked just before the assembly polls has shocked many BJP supporters by claiming that Modi-wave didn't play any role in his victory.
Early Times has a video evidence in its possession wherein R S Pathania, the BJP MLA from Ramnagar assembly constituency, thanked general public of the Ramnagar constituency in a village for voting in his favour and then attacked the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party for neglecting common people for the past 18 years saying-"Aakhde dikho ji inhe iyan ge tokhe kanne Modi ji de naam upar vote leilay, te pai Udhampur ni jeete Modi ji de naam upar, candidate bhi bada acha ha bechara, oh acha aadmi e, pada likhe da aadmiye, te uthe ni ditte Modi ji gi, ithe ki ditte Modi ji de naam upar, e nai aakhde ke atharen salen da saada jeda paape da kada ha oh paroi giya, paroi giya te fatiya, te aisa fataya ke itehaas baniya pure Jammu Kashmir de vich , kiyan banaya itehaas ke 46,000 votes te 18000 di inhi baddi lead Udhampur de itehaas vich na ge kusse ne lai te na hi aune aale itehaas vich koi laig (NPP leaders used to say I (R.S.Pathania) got victory riding on the Modi wave. If their (NPP leaders) statement is conceded to be true, why Pawan Khajuria, the BJP candidate in Udhampur lost to an independent although he is very nice and 'well educated' personality, why people of Udhampur didn't cast their votes in favour of Modi and why they did it in Ramnagar? They (NPP leaders) are shying to admit that their pots of sin were full in the 18 years and burst with the victory of BJP and the party became a history in Jammu and Kashmir, a history with 46000 votes with a lead of 18000 votes. Such a lead has never been taken by any contestant and will never happen in future".)
R S Pathania can also be heard criticizing the NPP leaders and their workers for alleged favoritism and getting votes by luring voters with the use of notes and liquor in the assembly elections.
Kavinder Gupta, State General Secretary, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) described Pathania's assertion as his personal views. "I cannot say anything as views are personal whosoever is part of the party," he said.
Dr. Nirmal Singh, Deputy Chief Minister of the state said, "Mr. Modi's role in the elections of the country as well as the state is enormous and no one can undermine it."
Meanwhile Singh also distanced himself from the statement of RS Pathania and refused to say anything over the video.
Pertinently, RS Pathania was Youth State Vice President of the Congress Party and District Udhampur President until November 2014 and was expelled from the Congress party membership along with former Chief Secretary B R Kundal, former PCC General Secretary Vinod Sharma and Thakur Puran Singh from Darhal with on December 12, 2014.
