AIU's Men boxing championship conclude
Amit of MDU Rohtak declared best boxer

Jalandhar, Mar 5: Exhibiting supremacy of the young boxers from across India, All India Inter University Men Boxing Championship 2014-15 concluded at Lovely Professional University. Amit (Light Fly Weight) of Mahrishi Dayanand University Rohtak has been declared the Best Boxer and Mahipal (Light Weight) of LPU the Best Promising boxer.
According to press release, Sanchit (Super Heavy +91 Kg Weight) of Mohan Lal Sukhadia University Udaipur is declared Best Challenger Boxer. With 2 Gold, 1 Silver, 5 Bronze & top 50 points of Championship, MDU Rohtak has lifted Men's Overall Championship Trophy. Maintaining the supremacy of Haryana State in Boxing, another university of the state Kurukshetra University has been declared 2nd Runner-up for getting 1 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze Medal and 40 points. Panel of International, National judges and referees worked hard for a total of 691 bouts fought in eight days.
Sharing their experiences for the championship held at LPU, AIU Observer, different coaches, referees and other delegates appreciated the speedy arrangement skills in the uncertain weather conditions. Boxers and officials spoke high about the nicest LPU arrangements for holding the championship and for their lodging-boarding and related facilities. All wished that LPU should be trusted with more of such organizations. LPU boxer Mahipal, who won Gold Medal in his Light weight category, has promised to prove his power of punches even at international level. Illustrative, maximum of the men boxers of different universities have already played at world level in sub-junior, junior, and senior level also. All of the boxers displayed great performances with strong upper-lower hooks and straight punches. Before declaring the Championship closed; LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal congratulated all the winners and motivated others to prove to be winners next time.
Gold-Medalists of the Championship by their respective Weight-Categories including Amit of MDU Rohtak Light Fly Wt (46-49Kg); Jitender of PU Patiala (Fly Wt (50-52 Kg); Lakshay of PU Chandigarh Bantam Wt (53-56 Kg); Mahipal of LPU Phagwara Light Wt (57-60 Kg); Akash of MJP Rohilkhand University Light Welter Wt (61-64 Kg); Ashish of MDU Rohtak Welter Wt (64-69 Kg); Rocky of OPJS University Churu Middle Wt (70-75 Kg); Sandeep of Kurukshetra University Light Heavy Wt (76-81 Kg); KP Singh of PUP Heavy Wt (91 Kg); and, Amritpreet of PUP Super Heavy (+91 Kg) category.
