Early Times Report
jammu, Mar 5: The Peoples Conference leader and MLA Handwara Sajjad Lone who showed his total displeasure over the allotment of a less important portfolio to him and did not assume the charge of his Ministry has gone into hibernation and refused to talk to media persons today.
Lone has switched off his phones and did not respond to any query from any media men on the second day today also after flying to Srinagar yesterday morning in protest of allocation of a lesser known and unimportant Ministry to him.
Lone who straightway drove to his Rawalpora residence from Srinagar Airport yesterday also had refused to use the Government vehicle which had come to drop him at his residence. Later he also did not attend the phone calls of media persons who tried to contact him and find out the reasons of his displeasure.
However sources said that the PC feels totally cheated by BJP which had a pre-poll alliance with the Party and used it during the Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council elections and later turned the back towards the Party.
Sources said BJP after getting PDP as its ally considers that it does not need the support of PC which despite all odds joined hands with BJP and made a pre-poll alliance with the Party.
Lone will not assume office as PC is not power thirsty and will not surrender its prestige for the sake of Ministry. Criticising BJP, PC has accused the Party of betrayal saying that this way the trust deficit can't be overcome and people of Kashmir can't trust any national Party.
The party sources said that Lone will not assume charge of the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Science and Technology till he is not given a portfolio of his choice. Lone surprised every one when he made a pre-poll alliance with BJP during the last year Assembly elections in the State.
His party came openly in support of BJP and its leadership and thus became the first separatist leader who joined the national mainstream and poll process to inspire other separatist organisations to do so, sources said, adding that instead of rewarding and encouraging him so that other separatist organisations can follow through, Lone feels disgusted and betrayed, the party sources said.
Sources said BJP needs to have an introspection to ascertain that can such policies help in brining the other separatist organisations to national mainstream as is being claimed by Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed?
Sources said that if BJP is really interested in bringing a truce in Kashmir and win the hearts of people, it has to encourage those separatist groups which are willing to join national mainstream and work for peace and prosperity of the state and the country.
