Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 19: At a time when polity of the entire country and the state is gaga over Prime Minister's Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, a poor 'beti' of the state that belonged to the constituency of the former Dy Chief Minister and Minister for School Education is running from pillar to post for last one year to find out what happened to her selection as an ReT teacher which was done in March 2014, by the office of the Zonal Education Officer Jourian.
Roopa Bhau, D/O Prem Singh, R/O Bhalwal Bharth in Jourian zone of Akhnoor Tehsil was placed at serial number two in a list of four of the village level merit panel of the candidates who applied for the post of ReT in the newly opened primary school in village Bhalwal Bharth under SSA, but she never got the appointment order one year after the merit list, duly signed by the members of Village Education Committee was published by the office of the Zonal Education Officer Jourian.
The process of selection for two posts of ReTs was conducted following advertisement notice No. 7 of 2014, of the office of Chief Education Officer Jammu, wherein of the 24 posts of different zones of Akhnoor tehsil, two were earmarked for Bhalwal Bharth, in which two candidates, Raj Kumar and Roopa bhau were selected on serial number one and two respectively, but despite their selection and the endorsement by the Village Education Committee, the two were never issued any joining orders and all their attempts to find out the fate of their selection have fallen on deaf ears.
"After I got to know that I have been shortlisted in the panel, I was expecting a joining order, but it has been one complete year, and I have received no communication" said Roopa expressing deep anguish and disappointment. ZEO Jourian, Jagdev Singh, known for his close proximity to Tara Chand, who conducted the process of selection has remained non committal said Roopa, while sources disclose that Tara Chand, who got drubbing at the hands of voters in Jourian and especially Bhalwal Bharth, he reportedly out of vengeance got the posts of that village allocated to some other village.
While story of poor Roopa is not an isolated incident of anarchy in the department of School Education where criminal nexus between Tara Chand, his PRO Kewal Sharma and CEO Jammu Tarsem Lal ruined many a lives of educated youth, the apathy of current regime has further amplified her hopelessness. A close relative of when contacted Director School Education Jammu Simrandeep Singh with documentary evidence and details, he rather than helping the poor girl asked the family to file an RTI query to find out the facts.
