SAMBA, Mar 26 : A ten day long annual NSS Camp at village Chak Jaralan, Bishnah concluded today. The Camp was organised by the NSS Unit of Dogra College of Education, Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana, Samba. Various activities were held during the camp, which started on March 16, including Socio - economic surveys, Cleanliness Drive, Yoga Asanas, Self Defence Training, Awareness Rallies, Plantation Drive. A Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was also organised in collaboration with Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu under the supervision of Dr Vijay Swahney, Prof & Head PG Department of Blood Transfusion & Medicine. A motivational lecture was also given by Dr Sawhney on the occasion. The function started with the lighting of traditional lamp followed by the welcome address by Prof. B. D. Damral, Director-cum-Principal, Dogra College of Education. In his address Prof Damral highlighted the role of NSS in developing students' personality through community service. Camp report was presented by Rajni Manhas, Programme Officer, NSS Unit of Dogra College of Education. Chander Prakash Ganga, Minister for Industries & Commerce was the Chief Guest on the occasion while senior Congress leader and former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, Chander Prakash Ganga stressed that the motto of the National Service Scheme is " Not me But You " which expresses the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of other's point of view. Charak in his address appreciated the NSS Volunteers for their involvement and tremendous endeavour in planning and organizing multifarious activities during the camp. At the end prizes and mementoes were also distributed by the Chief Guest among the volunteers for their best services in the camp. |
