Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Mar 26: Two day Jammu Lok Mela organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, was inaugurated at Ramnagar today. SDM, Ramnagar, Dhrirendra Sharma who the chief guest on the occasion formally inaugurated the mela. Additional Secretary Admn, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr Arvinder Singh, senior folk artists of the region, Kalo Devi, Laafo Ram were also present in the programme. Sharma appreciated the efforts of the J&K Cultural Academy for initiating the series of Jammu Lok Melas in the remote and rural areas of Jammu province. He said that through such melas, the original folk of the region will not only get recognition but also encourage the young generation to know about their old rich traditions, culture and rituals' and he also congratulated the folk parties who performed in this Jammu Lok Mela for their superb performances. Additional Secretary Amn, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages said that this is the forth Jammu Lok Mela here at Ramnagar. He further said that the main aim to organise such folk festivals in remote and rural areas was to provide platform to the dying folk forms like Masade, Bhagtian, fummanian and others. The folk parties who performed in the programme include: Ramalo Ram and Party, Kalo Devi and Party, Subhash Brahmanu and Party, Sheru Ram and party, Saras Bharti and Party, Laafo Ram and party, Angrejo Ram and party, Babu Ram and party, Karnail Singh and Party, Hans Raj and Party, Rasal Chand and Party, Mohan Mistry and party, Basant Ram and party. |
