'Mass copying' still roosts with alleged involvement of examination staff

Rajouri, Mar 27 : Despite frequent checking of the examination centres set up for final examinations of 10th and 12th classes, the menace of mass copying was still in progress with active involvement of the examination staff that reportedly is repeated every year for the reasons best known to the officials at the office of Chief Education Officer and other concerned quarters.
The matter of mass copying was also brought into the notice of Education Ministers and on March 19 through Video Conferencing and he directed all the District Development Commissioners (DDCs) and Chief Education Officers (CEOs) to check mass copying in these centres under their areas of operations.
Since then DDC, Tehsildars, SDPOs, CEO and Deputy CEO besides Flying Squads of Board of School Education (BOSE) have been paying surprise visits to the examination centres and have sized large quantity of copying material and also framed many cases against those students who were caught red handed while copying .
On Monday AH Fani, CEO Rajouri conducted surprise inspection of examination centre in high school at Palma & detected/framed six cases and also recovered large quantity of copying material. On the other hand a flying squad of BOSE paid several surprise visits to government schools in Nowshera and about 20 students were caught indulged in mass copying. According to sources within education department Rakesh Chowdhry, Superintendent (Exam) at Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Nowshera had apprehended four students while copying. BOSE team member Mushtaq Ahmed paid surprise visit to examination centre at Siot and registered six cases of copying against the students, sources said, adding, "while one case of copying as reported at Govt HSS at Lamberi by the flying squad.
"At Panihad, in GHSS, seven cases were framed by the CEO who checked several schools along with his team, sources said and added, "Abdul Khabir, Tehsildar, Thanamandi during his surprise visit to Govt High School at Shahdra found large quantity of copying material and registered five cases of mass copying and two cases were registered during his visit to Govt Girls HSS Planger.
A H Fani, CEO when contacted said, "Over 130 cases of copying have been detected by the various senior officers till Wednesday and the drive is continued. During surprise visit to Girls HSS at Darhal, Deepati Uppal, Deputy Commission had also recovered large quantity of copying material and had also directed concerned officials to frame charges against six students involved in copying.
Meanwhile People Democratic Party's, Rajouri Unit have appreciated Education Minister for taking tough stand against the menace of mass copying.
Tazim Dar, a senior PDP leader said, "The government must come up with more stringent action against those involved in copying and also against those staff members who help the students in copying on monetary considerations."
