Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 28 : A slew of measures to establish efficient systems in the Jammu and Kashmir government were announced at the first coordination committee (CC) meeting of ruling coalition parties BJP and PDP. "It was decided in the CC meeting that tangible political and administrative measures would be taken by the PDP-BJP coalition government so that people feel change at cutting-edge level," an official spokesman said here today. These would include short, medium and long-term interventions at various levels in the government so that initiatives enumerated in the coalition's Agenda of Alliance are implemented in time-bound manner, he said. The meeting decided that the government would instantaneously do away with red-tape in issuance of revenue documents including state subject certificates, which would be issued in a time-bound manner, he said. "This would also apply to issuance of rations cards, birth and death certificates, university and board certificates, building permissions and other such documents, he said, adding, the meeting called for issuance of such documents in prescribed time-frame.
The PDP-BJP Coalition Coordination Committee met here last evening under the chairmanship of the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh.
"The first ever coordination committee meeting of PDP and BJP was held here. It went on smoothly," state BJP party chief and Jammu MP Jugal Kishore said. PDP president and MP, Mehbooba Mufti, Sharma, MPs Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, Shamsher Singh Manhas and state cabinet Ministers, Choudhary Lal Singh, A R Veeri and Naeem Akhtar were present at the meeting. Srinagar MP of PDP Tariq Hameed Karra was conspicuous by his absence, with BJP leaders wanting to know why, though no reason was given for the same.
Sharma said all the members, except Karra and Ladakh MP and senior BJP leader Thupstan Chhewang, took part in the meeting. "Chewwang had earlier expressed his inability to participate in the meeting in view of being in Leh and sent his communication to us," he said.
