Ramnavmi celebrated with gaiety

Jammu, Mar 29 : Ramnavami-birth day of Lord Shri Rama, was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety amidst chanting of Bhajans and hymns in praise of Maryada Purshotam. Large number of devotees visited various temples of the city and paid their obeisance and participated in Bhajans and Kirtans. Temples were specially decorated with bunting and flags.
The day also coincides with culmination of nine day long Navratra festival. The main function of Ramnavami was held in the historical Raghunath Ji Temple in Jammu city where large number of devotees worshipped and paid their obeisance to Lord Rama and other Gods and Goddesses.
On this auspicious occasion an impressive Shobha Yatra was taken out in the walled city. The Shobha Yatra started from Shri Raghunath Mandir and culminated at same place after passing through various bazaars of the city. Scores of tableau depicting life and teaching of Lord Rama were beautifying the Shobha Yatra. 'Jhankis' of various social and religious organisations participated in the procession. All the Jhankis were depicting teaching of Lord Rama which inspires us to follow the path of justice, morality and sacrifice in every aspect of life.
Elaborate security arrangements were made in this connection and a heavy posse of policemen were deployed en-route of the procession. A few securitymen were seen taking positions on roof-tops, while some police officers were accompanying the Yatra.
Amidst chanting of Bhajans and religious slogans, the Shoba Yatra commenced from Raghunath Mandir Chowk and after passing through Rajinder Bazar, City Chowk, Purani Mandi, Jain Bazar, Mubarak Mandi, Moti Bazar, Raj Tilak Road, culminated again at the Raghunath temple.
The Yatra consisted of various tableau depicting the life history and teachings of Lord Rama. The procession was led by seven persons riding on horses in traditional Dogra dress which was being followed by beautifully decorated sanctum-sanctorum containing the statues of Lord Rama, Laxman and Sita.
About two dozen tableau by various social and religious organisations were part of the Yatra. These tableau were installed on tractors and cars. The tableau were followed by a large number of devotees with folded hands chanting Bhajans in praise of Lord Rama.
The Shoba Yatra was accorded welcome with religious slogans at each and every bazar en-route. Both sides of the route were decorated with buntings and flags. Raghunath Bazar, from where the procession commenced, was extra-ordinarily renovated by Raghunath Bazar Businessman Association. The Association also took part in the Shoba Yatra.
Large number of devotees, chanting slogans in praise of Marayada Purshotam Lord Rama, accompanied the Shobha Yatra from Shri Raghunath Temple to entire city. Jai Shri Ram and Marayada Purshotam Bhagwan Ram Ki Jai repeatedly rented in the air as devotees were shouting slogans in praise of Lord Rama.
Religious fervor gripped the entire city as the City of Temples was specially decorated for the auspicious occasion. Bazaars were adorned with buntings and saffron flags. Banners of various social and religious organisations welcoming the procession and greeting the people on this occasion were seen installed in all bazaars and important towns. Associations of different bazaars have installed Langers and Chabbils for the devotees participating in the Shobha Yatra. Loudspeakers airing bhajans in praise of Lord Rama were also installed at all important chowks.
Thousands of people thronged routes of the Shobha Yatra to have glimpses of traditional Rath which was pulled by the devotees. Citizens were seen throwing flower petals on the devotees participating in the Shobha Yatra.
Besides this a large number of devotees also visited the various temples in the City today to participate in the religious functions held in connection with celebration of Ramnavami and Navratra festival.
A huge rush of devotees was also witnessed at Tawi and Canal banks today at the concluding day of Navratras. On the occasion of Ram Navmi today, special functions were organised at different places in the temples of the city. The holy crop (Saakh), sown on the first Navratra was taken away and allowed to flow in the river and Ranbir Canal by the devotees after performing Pooja in the morning here today.
Ram Navmi celebrated with great religious fervor and gaiety in Samba . The chichi Mata temple situated on Jammu Pathankot National Highway near Samba witnessed a heavy rush today on Ram Navmi and thousands of the devotees thronged the temple. Moreover, special arrangements from district administration are made for devotees during Navratris.
The long serpent queues of show the zeal of devotees including men, women and children to have darshan. More than15, 000 devotees today visited Chichi Devi temple to have darshan.
The Basantar River took a festive look with hundreds of devotees including men, women and children waiting for their turn to immerse the idols and Saakh in the river.
Ram Navmi was also celebrated at Kashmiri colony Jagti. JTC president shadi Lal Pandita organized a programme at under construction Shiv Sai Temple in Lane No 14. Devotes Participated in large number and partake prashad.
