PDD employees transferred to PDC being denied pensionery benefits
Brewing resentment among employees
3/29/2015 12:14:47 AM
ET Report
Jammu, Mar 28: With Government denying them the pensionery benefits and other emoluments as admissible to other government employees there is a brewing resentment among the hundreds of employees of Power Development Corporation (PDC) after the transfer of a sizable number of the PDD employees to PDC.
Hundreds of PDD employees working in PDC this way are facing the bleak future as the authorities are reluctant to give pensionery benefits to them on retirement. Some of these employees who were transferred to PDC but whose lean was kept in PDD have already retired from the service and they were denied the pensionary benefits after the AG's Office returned their pension cases with objection that these employees are not entitled to pensionery benefits.
These employees are running from pillar to post for last two years as maximum of them will be retiring after two years. ``We served in PDD for over two decades and at the time of transfer to PDC a Government order was issued that the employees transferred to the Corporation are entitled to all benefits as admissible to other Government employees of PDD and their lean will continue to remain in PDD'' said Javed Ahmed a representative of Kashmir Electrical Employees and Workers Union (KEEWA).
Ahmed who is camping in Jammu at present said he met all the concerned officers of the Department regarding the issue. He expressed the hope that Government will pass directives to the concerned quarters to grant pensionery benefits to PDC employees who were transferred to Corporation after its formation in 1989 from PDD.
Javed said hundreds of employees working in PDC will be otherwise deprived of pensionery and other benefits in case the Government treats them as Corporation employees.
This is a total cheating and fraud with us said Mohammed Shaban another KEEWA leader. He said our counterparts working in PDD who were employed with us and were transferred to M&RE and other wings of PDD get all the benefits as a government employee while we are being deprived of the same.
He said this will not be tolerated and the employees will mobilize the public opinion and in cooperation with other trade unions come to streets to launch a decisive battle. ``The employees who were appointed after the formation of PDC can be treated as its employees and deprived of the pensionary and other benefits but not those employees who have served in PDD for one or two decades and were transferred to Corporation after its formation.
This is a total injustice with the these hapless employees as some white collar employees with the stroke of a pen are turning their career bleak, he said, adding the Government should see to it other wise there will be a total unrest and working class will come to streets.
