Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 29 : National Sikh Front decided to contest the Gurudwara Elections which are going to be held in July this year. National Sikh Front will field candidates on all seats in the State.
Addressing media persons, chairman Varinder Jeet Singh said, for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir Gurudwara Elections National Sikh Front is going to field 33 percent women candidates. We have many willing women candidates from both regions of Jammu and Kashmir. 7 members committee has been setup for the elections and shortly make our manifesto.
"We thank the Jammu Kashmir High court for giving its verdict on our petition filed and instructed the State Govt. to hold gurudwara Elections according to new districts and new Delimitation and especially Samba district which will make a separate Gurudwara committee. Govt. has also issued notification according to new districts in line with Courts orders. If the last Government had fulfilled our demands the Gurudwara elections would have been held five years ago, "he added.
He also said that our demands will be in manifesto but before the elections, demand from the Govt. that the new voter list which is to be made should be like Lok Sabha and assembly elections in which photo of the voter be clear. The voter list with photo makes the chance of fake votes very less and non-sikhs would also not vote. For photo voter list, Supreme Court and Chief Election Commissioner, has also issued orders. If the Govt. does not fulfill this demand, we will have to forcefully go to the doors of Court again.
He stated, Centre Govt. has spent millions of rupees to rehabilitate Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir and has given various packages to them we don't have any problem but on the other hand Kashmiri Sikhs who are fighting with militancy living in Kashmir are always ignored. They should be given special packages in which Govt. jobs and other financial assistance be given.
