JAMMU, Mar 29 : To commemorate the raising day of General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex (GZSAC), University of Jammu, Jammu on 28th of March 2015, Prof. R. D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu planted a sapling of Rudhrakh tree in the premises of the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex. This State of Art Auditorium Complex was inaugurated eight years back i.e. on 28th of March 2007, by then Chancellor of the university and Hon'ble Governor of of J&K. Lt. Gen. (Retd.) S. K. Sinha, PVSM. This unique auditorium complex named after the great warrior and one of the legends of Dogra history. In addition to an auditorium, having a seating capacity of around 1300, the complex also houses Sheikh Noor- Ud- Din Noorani heritage Museum and Rinchen bZangpo Art Gallery, showcasing the rich traditions and cultural heritage of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. This complex is also a combination of tradition and modernity with presence of hi-tech facilities perfect for promotion of Art, Culture and Academics. In the short span of eight years GZSAC has been instrumental in organization of various national and international pogrammes. especially two oath ceremonies, four convocations, 101st Indian Science Congress, UDGOSH a North Zone Youth Festival, musical events alongwith renting out the auditorium to various constituents of the university, government and non-government organizations, schools, etc. The others who were present during the plantation of the tree sapling by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. R. D. Sharma were Sh. J. K Sharma, Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, Dr Sanjay Sharma, Administrator, Genera Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex, Mr. Imran Farooq, PRO to VC, Ms. Sita Anand and Ms. Rakhee Maini, Liason Officers, GZSAC, Mr R. K. Khajuria, Environmentalist, Mr Ajmer Singh, Arboriculturist, along with staff members of General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex. |
