J&K set to upgrade power infrastructure, bring down AT&C losses to 15 percent

jammu, Mar 31: R-APDRP has been launched in 11 towns of Jammu Province each having a population of more than 10,000 as per 2001 Census, under which the lines/stations are being upgraded not only to ensure quality power supply but also to bring down AT&C losses to less than 15 percent.
This was stated by Minister of State for Public Works and Revenue Sunil Sharma while replaying to a question of PDP MLC Yashpal Sharma in the legislative council today. He said that in order to overcome unscheduled curtailment the department has done metering of consumers, new schemes like Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyut Karan Yojana (RGGVY) and DDUGJY have been taken up in Rural areas, where as accelerated power APDRP and IPDS schemes have been taken in Urban areas for improvement in distribution network.
He maintained that these schemes which are at various stages of implementation shall resolve issues like constraints in 33/11 KV lines/receiving stations and distribution transformers. He said that there is no un-electrified village in district Poonch as all 179 villages are electrified and it has been proposed that under recently launched Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) and Din Dayal Upadhayay Gram Joyti Yojana scheme (DDUGJY) all un-electrified villages in the State would be covered by 2018-19.
While replying to a question by Yashpaul Sharma in the Legislative Council, the Minister on behalf of Minister Incharge Power said that the Department has taken many steps to improve the infrastructure to provide reliable power supply in all the district of the State.
Minister further said that permanent restoration of 132 KV Draba-Chandak transmission line which was damaged during flood of September 2014 would be taken up very soon. Minister for CAPD Choudhary Zulfiqar Ali while intervening in the debate assured the House that the said all issues related to the power sector would be taken up with the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minster so that it is redressed with in shortest possible time. Vibodh Gupta, Surinder Choudhary and Firdous Tak raised supplementaries.
Replying to another question, Sharma said that Saller-Bagwani Bridge on Nallah Lidder has been approved under NABARD RIDF-XV at a cost of Rs. 672.33 lakh. He said an expenditure of Rs. 543.01 lakh stands incurred ending March, 2014 and during current financial year, an amount of Rs. 64.55 lakh under Loan Component has also been released for said bridge.
Replying to a question by Sofi Yousuf in the Legislative Council, the Minister said that the sub structure for 5 spans has been completed and left side abutment for additional span has also been completed. The Minister said that the retaining wall of approach road on Bagwani side is in progress, while as fabrication and launching of trussed girders for 4 spans also stand completed. Minister said, due to in adequate availability of funds, the pace of the project has got delayed, however, the work is likely to be completed by March of 2016 subject to availability of adequate fund.
While replying to another question by Vibodh Gupta, the Minister said that 1168 habitations which were left out of the earlier PMGSY phases would be taken up in the core area network programme soon.
The Minister said that 58 schemes were constructed/completed under PMGSY in district Rajouri during the last three years. He said presently 68 works have been taken up for execution in the district which are in progress except the two schemes, which could not be started earlier for want of forest clearance which is awaited.
The Minister further said that Forest Advisory Committee has cleared 12th Km of LO27 to Kotecharwal and formal sanction is expected to be received shortly. With regard to 2nd scheme i.e 15th Km of L045 to Narla, the Minister said that the department has placed the indent and forest clearance is awaited. He said it is expected that schemes would be completed during next financial year.
