3/31/2015 11:56:30 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar. 31: Director General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) OP Singh on Tuesday said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved significantly and added that six more teams will be sent with sufficient boats to the state as a precautionary step.
"Situation has improved significantly. There has been no rainfall since the last 24 hours and the water level has receded. Two NDRF teams are already working there and we are sending six more teams with sufficient boats. It has been a challenge, but we can't compare it to last year's floods," said
Earlier on Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed announced the release of an amount of Rs. 225 crores to meet the flood-situation created by incessant rains in the state.
"I authorise the release of an amount of Rs. 225 crores in favour of Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir and Rs. 10 crores in favour of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and SDRF (State Disaster Relief Fund) for rescue and relief," Mufti said while making a statement on the flood situation in the state assembly.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is in touch with the state government and closely monitoring the situation of increasing water levels in River Jhelum at Srinagar.
No breach of embankment has been reported.
However, as a precautionary measure, to assist the state government authorities, two teams of NDRF have been deputed and another four teams kept stand-by.
The state government has been asked to indicate the assistance required by them.
