Jammu, Mar 31: Ch. Nazakat Khatana appealed the state government to minimize the damages and provide full support and funding to the effected families. Addressing a press conference here at Jammu, Khatana said that the recent heavy rainfall hit the normal life of the people of entire State especially Gujjar and Bakerwal community. "The worst flash floods and landslides have made the life of the people in misery. Incessant rainfall triggered flood fears causing destruction to public and private properties in several areas again including the ones that were worst-hit areas in the devastating floods last September", he said. Expressing concern over the scarce flood situation in the entire State arising out of incessant rains, the President Khatana appealed the state government to minimize the damages and provide full support and funding to the effected families. He also urged the state government to take effective measures for minimizing the possible damage by the incessant rains. He also said that there is a need to strengthen bunds, de-silt flood channels and other alternate sources in order to tackle the situation. He was accompanied by Abdul Ghani, Ch. Hashim Din, Ch. Junaid, Sjad Ahmed, Mohd Latif, Babu Pojwala and Ch. Fayaz. |
