| Separatists term natural calamity a conspiracy! | | See flood threat as opportunity to 'mint money' | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 31: The flood alert sounded by the government in Kashmir has given separatists a chance to issue statements and remain in the news. Since Monday many separatists have issued statements launching a scathing attack on the state government and the administration. These people are terming natural calamity as a conspiracy hatched against Kashmiris. What an irony!
Someone needs to ask them how can government be blamed for the floods? And how can they term it as a conspiracy? Natural calamity can hit any part of the world and no one can be held responsible for it.
Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq issued a statement on Monday claiming that Mirwaiz Umar chaired an emergency meeting of Dar-ul-Khair, and Mirwaiz took the stock of the situation arising out of floods. He (Mirwaiz) appealed his activists, NGOs and others not to wait for the government help and be ready to meet any eventuality.
An analyst while talking To Early Times said: "It's strange that Mirwaiz is seeking help from all the quarters to meet the flood like situation. Someone needs to ask Mirwaiz how can these people help the victims without boats and other equipments which are required to meet the challenge which may emerge due to floods."
The analyst said that separatists have developed a habit of "poking their nose" in all the matters without realizing that whether they can play any role or not. "No one can deny the fact that it's the government only which can help the people in crisis as men, machinery and equipments are only available with the concerned authorities. How can unequipped people come forward and play a role in disaster management," the analyst asked.
He said when floods hits Kashmir in 2014 September separatists turned it into an opportunity to make their shops run. "They carried out cosmetic exercises to make people believe that they are doing their best to help them out. On the pretext of floods they raised the pitch to seek international aid from the foreign countries. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi foiled their nefarious designs and said no to international aid," the analyst added.
He alleged that separatists were not demanding the international aid for the people but for themselves as it could have helped them to fill their coffers and could have even allowed their masters to transfer dollars to them to foment trouble and orchestrate protest again in Kashmir.
A critic said that separatists raising hue and cry about floods hitting Kashmir is just a ploy to attract the attention of international community and seek some money from them on the name of flood victims. "These people have made a fortune by selling the blood of Kashmiris. They acquired huge amounts from various countries on the name of helping the militancy victims. Someone needs to ask them how many victims have they helped?" the critic added.
He said people of Kashmir have realized that separatists are non entities and they are only worried about their own interests. "People know it very well that it was government only which helped during the 2014 floods and they were rescued by the Indian Army and the Indian Air Forces when they were marooned and had no way to come out of the difficult situation," he added. |
