Jammu, Apr 1: Jammu district emerged overall champion in the State Wrestling Championship while district Udhampur finished second in the VII State Senior Indian Style Wrestling Championship held at Peer Baba Shah Akhara Domana, here today. Around 50 wrestles from all over the state took part in this championship which was organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council. The participating districts included Jammu, Rajouri, Samba, Reasi, Udhampur, Ramban and the departmental side of J&K Police. However, wrestlers from Kashmir Division could not participate due to heavy rains. Earlier, president of the Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma welcomed the distinguished gathering in this day-long competition while vote of thanks presented by general secretary, Bansi Lal Tidyal. Prominent among others present were Sports Officer, Rajan Sharma PR Sharma, Surinder Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Om Parkash Verma, Prem Kumar, Raj Hussian, Vijay Singh, Mohd. Fareed, Murli Dhar. The bouts were officiated by the technical penal including Kulbir Singh, Prem Kumar, Mohd. Fareed, Vijay Singh (Biju) and Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri).
