CA&PD deptt tightens noose seizes 2 LPG trucks, one case registered
36 establishments found using subsidized LPG cylinders for commercial purpose

Jammu, Apr 17: In response to various complaints regarding irregularities and misuse of LPG distribution, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public distribution (CA&PD), Tribal Affairs Zulfikar Ali today constituted four squads under the supervision of Secretary, CA&PD Satish Nehru to put a check upon menace of procuring subsidized LPG cylinders to commercial establishments and status of home delivery at the doorsteps of the consumers.
All the four squads comprising officers of Legal Metrology, CA&PD, Revenue, Police besides representatives of Oil Companies were deployed in all the parts of Jammu city headed by G S Chib, Director CA&PD, Jammu conducted surprise visits at various LPG agencies and business establishments in Jammu city.
During inspection M/s Unique Gas Agency and Shiva Gas Agency were found selling LPG Cylinders by point delivery at Preet Nagar and Satwari against the guidelines of oil companies and directions of Government. Both the trucks were seized and handed over to Police Station Gandhi Nagar for safe custody and matter has been recommended for further action by respective oil companies. In this regard one FIR was lodged against M/s Bral Food at Preet Nagar who was found with 6 cylinders at his commercial premises. During the inspection, 36 establishments were found using subsidized LPG cylinders for the commercial purpose and a total of 53 cylinders were seized and handed over to oil companies for safe custody.
The teams also scrutinized record of seven distributors namely M/s Kameshwar Gas Agency, M/s Jagat Ram & Sons, M/s JAKFED, M/s Shivangi Gas Agency to ascertain the actual delay in supplying the LPG to the consumers and found pendency of 10-15 days
On getting the complete feedback from the enforcement teams through Director CAPD, Jammu, the officers of oil companies were called by the Minister and strict warning was issued to streamline the delivery system and consumers should not get any trouble in booking their gas on online system. The Minister also directed the officers of the oil companies to take stringent action against the erring distributors under the standing guidelines of oil companies within two days and it should be ensured that no consumer should suffer by unethical delivery system of the distributor.
