Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 17: Leaving thousands of candidates in the state of utter confusion and uncertainty, the J&K Service Selection Board has failed to notify syllabus for the written examination for the recruitment on 509 posts in different departments that have been advertised by it.
According to the notification 01 of 2015, dated 7/4/2015, a total of 509 posts for different state and district cadre posts for various departments were advertised. The online application forms, as per written on the website of JKSSB, were slated to be started from April 9, 2015 but so far the syllabus for any of the exam was not finalized.
An applicant, while criticizing the JKSSB informed Early Times that when the posts were advertised by recruiting agency, the syllabus for the exams must also have been uploaded by the agency, but it was very unfortunate that so far syllabus was not uploaded. "Whenever the Kashmir Administrative Services posts are advertised, the syllabus is uploaded along with the application forms, but JKSSB has uploaded online forms but there is no mention of syllabus", Gulzar Ahmed Bhat, an applicant said.
He further said that the syllabus must be uploaded along with the posts, so that the applicants would get enough time for preparation.
Another applicant said that even filling the online form on JKSSB's website was not less than a nightmare. "For three consecutive terms, I filled the application form for Niab-Tehsildar post, but initially the website was showing that "Error encountered the website", and when the website opened, the photos, signature, and thumb impression were not uploaded, despite having the size as mentioned by the agency", Rohit Sharma of RS Pura said. He further said that on the application form, the marks of Middle class were also sought, but not a single student would have marks cards of middle class. "Moreover, in some universities, the grading system is in vogue, and there is no option for grading system in the online form, which is also another hurdle", he said, adding that JKSSB was ill-prepared to conduct the exams.
Secretary of JKSSB, Khursheed Ahmed Shah, informed Early Times that Board was yet to decide the syllabus. "One month before the date of written examination will be decided, syllabus will be uploaded on the website, we assure the aspirants", he said.
