Nigerian couple among four held from Mumbai in 'duping case'

Jammu, Apr 17: Gandhinagar police today claimed to have arrested four Nigerians including a couple from Mumbai for alleged duping resident of Gandhi Nagar of lakhs of rupees in the pretext of providing him an imported car through online website OLX.
Police sources said the accused have been identified as Ifennyi son of Uzoechi along with his wife Grace Okalika, George s/o Ike and Frank s/o Chinviko.
Giving details police sources said, "The offer in regard to sale of imported car was uploaded on sale-purchase website OLX."
They said that deal for the online purchase of car between sellers and buyers was settled on Rs 28 lakh for which an advance amount of Rs 4.0 lakh was paid by the buyer.
"As per complainant Naveen Anand, he found attractive imported car pictures posted on the OLX just @ Rs 28 lakh and being interested in deal, the complainant called the sellers and was informed that the sellers were approved by the UK Embassy to enter into the trade of online imported car, sources added.
Quoting complainant police sources said, "During the deal he made the payment of Rs 4 lakh to seal the deal but later he came to know that he has been duped when dealers suddenly vanished from the website."
"Then he lodged a complaint with the Gandhi Nagar Police Station furnishing details of the online trade and online banking payment made by him, sources said while adding, "during the investigation, police came to know that some Nigerians are the mastermind and accordingly a police team led by SHO Paramjeet Singh supervised by SSP Jammu Uttam Chand conducted a raid at the possible hideout of the Nigerians in Mumbai with the cooperation of the Santa Cruz Police Station and arrested the gang of four from Mumbai.
"Police have booked them u/s 420 RPC against FIR NO 74/2015, sources said.
Police said that sustained questioning of accused is in progress and more revelations and arrests are expected in near future.
